In a season dominated by burst damage, Discipline Priests stand out thanks to.– check what tank is doing before first trash pull in dungeon if he is not marking targets or explaining marking assignments, make sure you ask him about CC. While certainly less efficient at gaining experience, Discipline specialization can still be enjoyable, especially if the player is fond of the lore flavor.SL - currently is a return to TBC, where you can gear in PVP gear 266. Discipline Priest is a niche specialization for levelingmost people go for Shadow since it deals much more damage and offer much better versatility for open world gameplay.Mana can become extremely volatile if you are spending it on too many non-ramp Atonements. Which means, if holy priest heals + val'anyr heal the tank absorption is 3k per 20k gheal, but if Disc does it absorption is 6300 per gheal crit.Between the Spirit Shells - Beware of Mana. With T9 it'd be 2100 from val'anyr and 5600 from Aegis. If it was a disc priest with the mace > bubble 2100 + 4200.PoH got boosted and cast time is shorter now, adding extra hot after cast is awesome for healing group, combined with Inner Focus this baby can heal for very nice numbers. I think that with increasing levels of mastery rating this one will turn in to very nice heal soon followed by huge absorption bubbleGlyph of Prayer of Healing – this is to fix what disc is lacking most compared to other healers – our AoE healing output. Prime glyphs:Glyph of Penance – it is obvious choice, PN still heals nice and is fast + procs all that goodies disc hasGlyph of Power Word: Shield – even though we don’t use shields any more to spam on whole group it’s still tool used to heal tank extra heal added to it is very nice and helps a lot. This is setup I am using at the moment and works for me very nice, i guess though it’s down to your play style and preferences. For heroics as disc I’ve noticed that glyphs boosting your mitigation and AoE output seems to be the best choice.
![]() Also as disc we have our own haste mechanics that combined with buffs warlocks and shadow priest can give us is enough to cast heal at good speed. And you will notice this while healing that occasional crits make hard situations simple □ So as healer we want as much crits as it is possible. Why haste so low? Because it’s better to relay on huge crits from heals then fast heals that will make you oom faster. New healing mechanics make heals crit for 150% amount. So you will need spirit like every other healer in game… yes! that includes that pesky paladins too □ If i had to give you some general formula for stats priority i would say:Spirit>Intellect>Crit>Mastery>Haste Intellect>Spirit>Haste>Mastery>Crit – though itemization is now made quite smart so if there is intellect there is usually also spirit on healer gear and one of the additional priority stat make it crit rating, mastery or haste. So if you feel you run out of mana too fast this means you should focus on spirit as most important stat, if you feel that your mana regeneration is ok go for more intellect though this two usually come together on healer gear as i mentioned before so i guess keeping both as high as possible is ‘do and don’t think about it’ approach.Crit is different though. And this leads to intensive mana use. Keeping your stacks and using wings on 5/5 helps to regenerate mana so if tank is not taking much damage it is good to heal with smite and stack evangelism. In emergency situations during boss fights you can use combination of Hymn of Hope and Shadowfiend to regenerate huge amount of mana but make sure your tank is aware of that and has cool down ready since it’s most efficient if you jump in to 5 sec rule and stop casting heals during whole duration. This is also where evangelism/archangel mechanics comes in to play. Ofc I still have to watch my mana closely and some pulls can drain almost all of it but if you try to jump in to 5 sec rule as often as possible you will passively regenerate huge chunks of mana. Haste with current gear level and amount of crit rating from gear makes healing much less stressful since you can heavily relay on quick Heal casts saving more mana.In heroics i noticed that mana stopped to be such a huge issue once I’ve hit 2300 spirit from gear. Did another round of testing in heroics and in raids. Antivirus for mac pro freeAlso mind that dps have now so much hp it is still possible to heal through bad pull when tank died. If tank dies because he took so much damage you could not keep him up even with intensive flash heal spam* CC failed, or he didn’t pop a cool down any way it’s not your fault. Also once you know fights you will know when to use Barrier most efficient.– If tank dies it is not always end of the fight, keep healing and don’t lose focus. Good trick to top up whole group and help out on dmg.– Barrier – explain before boss pull that huge bubble on a ground is your cast not boss ability to kill people □ and if people see it they should hide under it! I’ve seen so many times dps moving away from it. Cast holy fire on primary target and spam smites – if there is moment when tank won’t take much damage it’s on the start of the pull… or when CC is done well.– Power Infusion + Holy Fire + Smites when group is stacked in melee range is almost as efficient as single PoH. If you decided to pug look realistically on your group setup. Also we’re healers we will always fiend group it’s dps that have to wait half an hour for a group □ Heroic dungeons 101: Why bother? Once people will realize how hard it is to fiend healer with LFD tool they will start to wonder why this is happening and stop blame us for any of their mistakes. People in pugs usually have mentality stuck in WotLK and it will cause only unnecessary stress for you. If rest of the group is doing their job right you should not have to cast it any way.– Group with guild and use ventrilo if it is possible avoid pugs □ In general guild runs > pugs. In general: tank>50%hp: cast heal else cast greater heal, flash heal is horribly expensive and you should keep it only for serious emergency situations but it is best to avoid it and never cast it during any pull… or boss fight. It is not WotLK healers are not designed anymore to top up whole group no matter what damage they take. If people fail on it or dps without noticing what is going on around – say it! Going oom after every pull just because whole group thinks you can heal anything is your waste of time. CC is the key to simple pulls. Always bring food and water – plenty of it since if there is no mage you will have to rely on your own supplies.
